Who is a CEO in a company and what does this English acronym mean in Polish?
Many think that the owner in English is just CEO. It happens that the CEO is the owner of the company. However, this is not the rule.
CEO is the owner primarily in small companies - or those that have managed to develop without foreign capital (investor).
Owner in English is simply owner - possibly founder, if the owner of a given company is also its founder.
In most cases, CEOs are simply employees of the company, hired to manage the business in question. Often they also own part of the shares in the company they work for.
What does a CIO mean?
A CIO (Chief Information Officer) is, in Polish, a director of IT. The person who occupies the position of CIO is responsible for defining the strategy of the IT department and oversees IT integration projects and processes. The CIO is not only the head of the IT department, but also the vice president of IT.
What does CFO mean?
CFO stands for chief financial officer. In Polish, CFO stands for chief financial officer, whose role is to plan the company's finances, analyze the company's strengths and weaknesses and propose corrective actions. The position of CFO belongs to the company's senior management.
Abbreviations for the other directorships are also abbreviated
COO, or chief operating officer, also known as chief operating officer, is one of the highest management positions in an organization. The COO is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and reports to the most senior director. The COO is usually the deputy CEO.
The CTO is the Chief Technology Officer - in Polish, the chief technology officer. He has both extensive technical and business knowledge.
CSO is Chief Sales Officer - in Polish, director of sales. Manages regional sales directors.
CMO is Chief Marketing Officer - in Polish, director of marketing. He has knowledge of marketing as well as management. He is responsible for all marketing activities of the company where he works.
